About The Author
Hi, I’m Samuel Hozan — author of Paws & Reflect Before You React: Learning Self-Control with God’s Help and the heart behind this blog.
If you’ve ever said something too quickly, reacted too strongly, replayed a conversation in your head, or wished you could take back a sentence, then you are in very good company.
This blog was born from a simple but powerful truth: small pauses can change big outcomes.
I created Paws & Reflect Before You React to encourage people to slow down, guard their words, and respond with wisdom instead of impulse. In a world full of stress, noise, outrage, and fast opinions, I believe we desperately need more grace, more reflection, and more Spirit-led self-control.
Why I Wrote This
I’ve seen how quickly words can build peace or break it.
How one reaction can shape an atmosphere.
How one pause can prevent regret.
And how God can use even our weakest moments to teach us strength.
That is what led me to write this book and create this space.
My goal is not to pretend that any of us handle every moment perfectly. We do not. We are all learning. We are all growing. But with God’s help, we can become more patient, more thoughtful, more grounded, and more intentional in the way we speak and respond.
What You’ll Find Here
Here on the blog, I write about things many of us deal with every day:
- emotional reactions
- self-control
- stress and overwhelm
- offense and rejection
- relationships and conflict
- guarding the tongue
- spiritual growth
- practical biblical wisdom for real life
In other words, this is a place for people who want their responses to look more like Christ and less like impulse.
A Few Fun Truths About Me
I care deeply about:
- faith that actually changes daily life
- words that heal more than harm
- practical wisdom, not just good ideas
- building content that encourages, strengthens, and points people back to God
I also believe:
- silence is underrated
- not every thought deserves to be spoken
- a soft answer is more powerful than most people realize
- growth often starts with one breath, one pause, and one better response
My Hope for This Blog
My prayer is that this blog becomes a place of encouragement for anyone who feels overwhelmed, reactive, emotionally tired, or hungry for peace.
I hope the words here help you:
- slow down
- think clearly
- speak wisely
- heal relational tension
- grow spiritually
- and remember that self-control is not weakness — it is evidence of God at work within you
If you’re here, I’m grateful.
Take a breath.
Stay awhile.
Read slowly.
Reflect deeply.
And may your words and responses become more full of grace with every step forward.
Welcome to Paws & Reflect Before You React.
